Question re using own voice?

I have read the manual and watched a video on YTube, and I note the section re. the options 'Activate Speech Output' and 'Disable Voice on Readback'

So that I may better understand, as the video appeared to do both, can one only use one's own voice via microphone to do the communication with ATC, or does one always have to click the appropriate button as well as speaking the Request / Readback'? Also when speaking to ATC do you need to configure a PTT button on the joystick. I ask, as I also use Multi Crew Environment and use the mic to communicate with my virtual FO. If there is no PTT button to speak with 124ATC, so the FO knows I'm speaking to ATC, he will think I'm speaking to him! 😁

Thanks for any help.
Stuart

Right.
You have an option that allows you to exclude the readbacks reply, in order you to act as pilot and trains yourself replying to the communications.
No speech recognition provided.
