Voices using Windows 10 v2004

Post by msimon1251 » Thu May 28, 2020 4:35 pm

I upgraded my PC (Windows 10, 64 bit) to version 2004. Per the User Guide, I had previously checked the Registry for Speech/Voices and updated my voices.txt file. They worked fine (although sounding mechanical). I note that the voice tokens were in this format, e.g., "TTS_MS_EN-US_ZIRA_11.0". What is interesting is that with the Windows update just released (2004) there is an additional registry entry. This one is called Speech_OneCore. It includes (depending on what voice packs you have downloaded and activated) much more "life-like" voices. Their "tokens" have a slightly different format: MSTTS_v110_enUS_MarkM, besides being located in a separate Registry "directory." When you test them in Windows Narrator, these voices sound awesome. So, I entered their tokens into the voices.txt file like this:

user#MSTTS_V110_enUS_MarkM
atc#MSTTS_V110_enGB_SusanM
ai01#MSTTS_V110_enAU_CatherineM
ai02#MSTTS_V110_enAU_JamesM
ai03#MSTTS_V110_enCA_LindaM
ai04#MSTTS_V110_enCA_RichardM
ai05#MSTTS_V110_enGB_GeorgeM
ai06#MSTTS_V110_enGB_HazelM
ai07#MSTTS_V110_enIE_SeanM
ai08#MSTTS_V110_enIN_HeeraM
ai09#MSTTS_V110_enIN_RaviM
ai10#MSTTS_V110_enGB_SusanM
random01#MSTTS_V110_enGB_SusanM
random02#MSTTS_V110_enAU_CatherineM

When I fired up X-Plane 11 and 124thATCv2, I only heard the mechanical voices of Zira and David (and they weren't even in my voices.txt file). My question, does 124thATC only use the "TTS_MS" voices? Is there a way to have 124thATC recognize and use the "MSTTS_V110" voices? I realize in the scheme of life this isn't a huge deal - I can use the mechanical voices just fine. But it would be neat to hear a more natural sounding voice. Any ideas?

(I have attached a PDF to show the different locations of the voices in the Windows 10 v2004 registry, if that helps).

Thanks!!

PS - I'm new here and I don't think my attachment is working. I've tried attaching a pdf and jpg. No luck. Sorry.

Hi msimon1251,
thanks for reporting. TBH I didn't had time to test myself, I'll test them on 2004 asap.

Cheers,
